ADHD Assessment and Treatment

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) interferes with daily responsibilities, achieving goals, and maintaining relationships. Identifying the signs of ADHD can be difficult, particularly with adults.

Some important questions to consider are: Have these issues persisted throughout the lifespan or have they arisen in response to a stressful situation? Do these behaviours affect multiple areas of your life or just one?

Assessment provides insight into your pattern of symptoms by drawing information from a range of sources including:

  • 2-hour clinical structured interview
  • Administration of several validated ADHD assessment tools
  • Assessment of mental health, developmental and medical history (school reports or letters from other health professionals can be very helpful)
  • Supporting information from family members or partners (where possible)

Following assessment, you will receive a detailed report comparing your reported issues against the diagnostic criteria for ADHD and a set of recommendations for future support. Recommendations will include information for seeking medication and psychological skills training to help you manage your symptoms.

Psychological Skill training aims to improve areas such as:

  • Emotion regulation
  • Attention and focus
  • Time management and organisation
  • Interpersonal skills
